"SUBMARINE D-1" FOR THRILLING ACTION
"MERRY-GO-ROUND OF 1938" FOR MUSICAL FUN

"Submarine D-1" proves that truth is more thrilling than fiction. It is a real exciting story of the Hell Divers of the Deep -- Uncle Sam' glorious, unknown daredevil heroes.

Pat O'Brien, George Brent, Wayne Morris ("Kid Galahad"), Frank McHugh, Ronald Reagan, Henry O'Neill and Regis Toomey are the notable featured players. Pat O'Brien and Wayne Morris play a couple of young submarine crewmen who have developed two great inventions--a device to shoot men safely to the ocean's surface if a ship is sunk, and another device to raise the U-Boat itself. In the story the D-1 is rammed and sunk during some war game maneuvers, and the boys' inventions get a chance to show their worth.

OFF FOR A DIZZY ROUND OF HILARITY

Comedians in bunches are featured in "MERRY-GO-ROUND of 1938." First of all there are those four mad zanies, Bert Lahr, Mischa Auer, Billy House and Jimmy Save. There are Alice Brady and Louise Fazenda, while others in the film are Joy Hodges, John King, Barbara Read, Dave Apollon.

In "Merry-Go-Round of 1938," Auer, Lahr, House and Savo are cast as four broken-down vaudeville actors who try to further the live affair of their adope=ted daughter. To impress Alice Brady, Mischa pretentds to be a mystic Swami; House dresses as a titled English woman; Savo is an assistant Swami, while Bert convinces Miss Brady he is her long-lost sweetheart.

FRED ASTAIRE ENDS VACATION

Shortly after the apparent suicide of a parisian banker, an event which precipitates a financial panic, a gay adventuress turns up at the famous Monte Carlo resort, playing the dangerous game of tracking down the banker's enemies. A lovely carefree girl one day, Annabella is the daring adventuress the next, for the banker was her father.

Paul Lukas, David Niven play romantic parts, and Romney Brent a wise-cracking reporter-detective.

THREE MEN IN HER LIFE

When a girl with a past steps into the spotlight of fame, anything can happen -- and for Claire Trevor it does in "Big Town Girl." Three men -- Donald Woods, Alan Dinehart and Alan Baxter -- provide the background for her adventures. One wants to share her life, one wants to take her life, and one wants to write the story of her life.

When her bank-robber husband breaks out of prison, Claire Trevor realizes her life is in danger. She takes a job as a singer, meets a press agent who disguises her as a European countess and finally the networks of the air bid for her talents.

DWARF'S GIVEN WALT DISNEY'S OWN EYEBROWS

When Walt Disney's first feature, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," is released, six of the dwarfs has a likeness of the famed cartoonistapos;s eyebrows

The Disney eyebrows have fascinated all of his co-workers who have ever sat in a story conference with him, for they wanter about, shooting up or cascading down toward the bridge of his nose, helping to create more perfectly any expression Walt may choose to convey.

Therefore, when the dwarfs were being developed, all of the artists working on them agreed that no more perfect eyebrows could be wished on them than those resembling Walt's.
