1.OVERTURE, "Oberon" . . . . . Carl Weber "Oberon" was Weber's last opera. The libretto, the work of Planche, is founded on an old French romance, "Huon of Bordeaux." It is a fanciful fairy tale, involving a quarrel of the Fairy king and Titania, and various exploits of one Sir Huon in Bagdad seeking the hand of Rezia, the Caliph's daughter, under fairy guidance, but against eventful opposition from Babakan, her suitor.
