SYNOPSIS

"THE PUPPET CROWN" is the second of the Harold McGrath romances to be picturized by the Lasky Feature Play Co. Apart from this, the production is notable in that Ina Claire makes her second film appearance in this offering and Carlyle Blackwell, who plays the leading male role, makes, in this piece, his debut under Lasky direction.

Most of the events of "The Puppet Crown" transpire in the little European kingdom of Osia, where the invalid King is at the mercy of his Chancellor, who is plotting to dethrone him and set the Duchess Sylvia up as ruler in his stead. The daughter of the King has, while incognito at an American school, fallen in love with a rich young American, and when matters reach a desperate condition, the young fellow strives to uphold the tottering fate of the King, even though he knows that if thePrincess rules she can never marry him.

In the end the Princess loses her throne, but she wins the man she loves, and therefore the tragedy of a revolution becomes ultimate happiness for both heroine and hero.
